Launching of Commemorative Postage Stamp to mark the 30 th Anniversary of FESTAC 77 |

The Centre in collaboration with NIPOST produced one-type postage stamp to commemorate the 30 th anniversary of FESTAC 77. The launching and public presentation of the stamp held at the Muson Centre, Onikan, Lagos . The occasion was chaired by His Excellency, Alhaji Akwe Doma, the Executive Governor of Nassarawa State ably represented by Mr. Michael John Abdul, the Deputy Governor of Nassarawa State . |

Meeting of African Agencies and Organizations involved in the Management and Promotion of African Arts and Culture |

The Centre hosted a summit of agencies and institutions involved in the management and promotion of Black and African arts and culture. The theme of the 2007 edition of the meeting was “Developing Proactive Strategies for Dealing Effectively with the Challenges Facing the Management and Promotion of African Arts and culture”. Representatives from seven agencies and institutions (from Nigeria and other African countries) involved in the promotion and Management of African Arts and culture participated in the summit held at the Peninsula Resort, Ajah, Lagos between 21 st to 23 rd of August, 2007. The Summit had in attendance representatives from African Union (AU), Pan-African Policy Research and Strategic Group (PANAFSTRAG), Centre for Bantu Civilization (CICIBA), CERTODOLA Cameroon and the Institute for Kiswahili Language Tanzania . |

UNESCO Exhibition in Paris |

To commemorate the 30 th Anniversary of FESTAC ‘77 in grand style, the Centre honoured an invitation from the United Nation Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization, (UNESCO) through the Ministry to mount an exhibition to celebrate the 30 th anniversary of the FESTAC 77 in Paris to the viewing public of representatives from 190 countries from across the globe during the 34 th Session of the UNESCO General Conference held in October 16-Novemebr 3 rd , 2007 in Paris |

International Conference |

The theme of the Conference was: “Global African Spirituality, Social Capital and Self Reliance in Africa ” . The major objectives was to examine ways of rebuilding a common African spiritual foundation for the enhancement of Africa's full potentials, strive towards building a global African spiritual coalition for managing crises and conflicts in the global African world and explore ways of restoring Africa's traditional values by rebuilding families and communities in order to enhance our potentials for self reliance. The Conference attracted scholars and participants from Africa, America, the Caribbean and Europe as well as global Afro-centric organizations, Universities, students and individuals of African descent including. |

Within the year under review, the Centre's released twelve different publications including textbooks and monographs on contemporary issues of socio-economic, political, cultural and historical significance. |

Untapped Resources Conference in Abuja |

The Centre actively participated at the Untapped resources conference organized by the Ford Foundation in Abuja , November 13-17, 2007. Apart from participating at the conference, CBAAC also mounted an exhibition to the viewing public at the conference. |
