i. Global African Youth Summit in South Africa 2009, September2009
The Africa Institute of South Africa, (AISA), in partnership with the Centre for Black and African Arts and Civilization (CBAAC), Pan-African Strategic and Policy Research Group (PANAFSTRAG) and Ebunkhosini Solutions is hosting the Global African Youth Summit scheduled to hold from 30 September to 3 October 2009 . The Summit which will take place at Bhurger's Park Hotel, Tshwane , South Africa represents an attempt to create a platform for African youths across the globe to debate and engage in dialogue on the difficulties and predicaments plaguing young people throughout Africa and the Diaspora.
The main objective of the Summit is to bring together various youth organizations in Africa and the Diaspora in order to create synergy and cooperation within and across youth programs with the view to minimizing duplication and streamlining resources for effective delivery and impact. It was expected that this summit would lead to the formulation of a programme and action plan as an input into the African Youth Ministers Conference and the Commonwealth Heads of States Meeting.
ii. International Colloquium in Brasilia , Brazil November 2009
Following its successful outing at the 2008 edition of its annual International Conference held at the State University of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in 2008, plans are on by the Centre in collaboration with Pan African Strategic and Policy Research Group (PANAFSTRAG), to hold the 2009 edition of its annual International Conference series with the theme: “Teaching and Propagating African History to the Diaspora and Doing Same of the Diaspora to Africa” in Brasilia, Brazil at the instance of the Brazilian Government through Brazil's Special Secretariat for the Promotion of Policies on racial Equality (SEPPIR), the Presidency, Brazil. The Colloquium scheduled for November, 2009 in Brasilia , Brazil shall have scholars and participants from Africa, America , the Caribbean and Europe . Brazil was chosen again in response to the request from the Brazilian Government that CBAAC holds a follow-up edition of its highly successful 2008 annual International Conference in Brasilia and in recognition of the practical demonstration of Brazilian government's keen interest in the teaching of African history. As part of efforts geared towards ensuring a successful outing for Nigeria , an advance team of three made a pre-colloquium trip to Brasilia in May 10 to 15, 2009 .
iii. Children's Christmas Cultural Festival, December 2009
To re-establish traditional arts, culture and confidence of Black and African peoples in our youths, the Centre intends to organize a one-day cultural festival in December 2009 in Lagos . The ultimate aim of the festival is to rekindle the interest of our youths in our culture. The festival will feature: art Exhibition; traditional Fashion Parade; cultural Performance; cultural Quiz competition; traditional Dance Competition; clips of FESTAC '77; and raffle draw. A large number of Primary and Secondary Schools pupils and students will be invited to attend.
